Construction company in Pereira and Risaralda
We are YU Construcciones S.A.S., a construction company based in Armenia, Quindío, about an hour from Pereira along the Autopista del Café (the Coffee Region motorway). We do not have an office in Pereira: we serve the city and the rest of Risaralda from Armenia, with the same team and the same way of working we use in Quindío.
In Pereira we have built country homes in Cerritos and infrastructure works at Matecaña International Airport.
Why it matters who builds
Pereira shares with Quindío the two conditions that weigh most on any project: earthquakes and the ground. Risaralda is a high seismic hazard zone under the NSR-10 (Colombia's earthquake-resistant building code), and the region knows it first-hand: the earthquake of 25 January 1999 destroyed much of Armenia, and the earthquake of 10 August 2026 damaged buildings across the Eje Cafetero (Coffee Region) once again.
Then there are the hillsides. A large share of the region's plots are on a slope and there are two rainy seasons a year, so cuts, retaining structures and drainage are studied before the house. A contractor who is not used to that terrain tends to discover those costs halfway through the job.
What we have built in Pereira
- Chambery House Lot 9C — Cerritos, 2021–2022. Single-family home in the Malabar gated community: concrete structure, masonry, services and finishes.
- Casa del Bosque — Cerritos, 2024–2026. Two-storey country house in the Cauquillo area, with swimming pool, terraces and a steel structure for roofs and pergolas.
- Water and sewer networks, Matecaña Airport — 2021. Networks within the airport zone, carried out under air operations protocols.
- Retaining works and slopes, Matecaña Airport — 2022. Retaining structures, shotcrete and slope stabilisation.
The kind of work we do in Pereira
- Houses in rural gated communities. Cerritos is Pereira's main area of rural gated communities. There, besides the building permit, the works must comply with the condominium bylaws, which usually set design rules, working hours and conditions for bringing in materials. It is worth reading them before designing. See country houses.
- Houses on your own plot, in rural or suburban areas, where earthworks, retaining structures, access and wastewater management weigh as much as the house itself.
- Infrastructure works: water supply and sewer networks, and slope stabilisation and retaining walls.
How a project works from Armenia
- First conversation. On WhatsApp, with the location of the plot and what you want to build. If you have drawings, photographs or a survey, send them.
- Technical visit. Within Quindío it is free of charge. For Pereira and the rest of Risaralda, the terms of the visit are agreed before we go, so that you know in advance what it includes.
- Written budget, with APU (unit price analysis), quantities, specifications and a schedule.
- Written contract, with the scope, price, timescales and payment terms, and insurance bonds where required.
- Construction with a resident engineer, the same model we use in Quindío, with regular reports and a photographic record.
- Payments against records of verified progress: you pay for what has been built.
Technical direction is led by Ing. Diego Luis Arango Jaramillo. As well as Risaralda, we work in Quindío, Caldas and northern Valle del Cauca, and we take on projects in the rest of the country; see our full coverage.
Building permits in Pereira
In Pereira, building permits are issued by the curadurías urbanas (private licensing offices). The permit is issued in the owner's name; we support the process and coordinate with the designer and the curaduría. The general process is set out in our guide to the building permit; it is written with Quindío in mind, but the procedure follows the same national regulations. It is worth confirming the details with the curaduría.

The free visit applies within Quindío. For Pereira and Risaralda, the terms are agreed
beforehand, depending on the location and what needs to be inspected. Send us the
